vmxnet3 adapter resetting repeatedly on Windows Server 2016
Hi,
Can anyone help me determine why a vnic is resetting repeatedly on one of my VMs?
The event I am seeing during a reset is from NDIS, event ID 10400, with error text:

Is it likely just a case of needing a reinstall of vmware tools?

Re: Disable Virtual Machine NIC Through esxcli
You should be able to do it through PowerCLI commands.
Re: VMware suddenly VERY slow opening applications
OK. Closed down Windows 10, went into the VMware settings, found that I had 4 processors and almost all the RAM allocated to VMware, so went back and changed this to 2 processors and the recommended RAM (2048 MB), leaving 14000 MB for the Mac. No improvement in opening times for things like MS Word.
Opened the Task Manager and found that it was running at 99% or 100% CPU most of the time.

Re: Configure Nginx to reverse proxy VMRC traffic
Ok, looks like you're running VMRC on Windows. Not that this helps you, but internal ticket 1815860 is tracking this issue where VMRC doesn't give an accurate error message in some cases. If you have Workstation available you may see this
Failed to connect to xxx. The proxy could not be resolved.
instead of this message from your 2.png attachment
Failed to connect to xxx. Invalid or expired session ticket.
Re: Creating Routed Org Network in vCD 8.20.0.2
OK, probably the vCD Version is the Problem I verified the Script with 8.20. I can Test tomorrow with a 9.1 instance.
Do you use Advanced Edges (I do)?
Might you please do the same Check we have done with the manual Edge Gatway properties with the Org Network?
Re: Recreate virtual machine in pool.
Delete the machine. It should recreate it if it's an automated pool with provision all up front set.
Re: vmxnet3 adapter resetting repeatedly on Windows Server 2016
Hello Eds
You would have to reinstall VMware tools on the VM. However you could follow the steps mentioned below to reinstall.
1. Removed VMNET3 NIC
2. Started VM and ran "netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt" (to delete old/ghost configs), make the ghosted network adapter visible in the Device Manager and uninstall the ghosted network adapter from the registry.
3. Stoped VM and added VMNET3 (enabled but disconnected)
4. Started VM and configuerd IPv4-static+Gateway+DNS
5. Stoped VM and set VMNET3 to be "connected"
6. Started VM... all works fine now for 3 days without issues.
Steps to make the ghosted network adapter visible in the Device Manager and uninstall the ghosted network adapter from the registry:
Click Start > Run.
Type cmd and press Enter.
At the command prompt, run this command:
Note: open the command prompt using the Run as Administrator option.
set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
Start the Device Manager by running this command from the same command prompt:
start devmgmt.msc
Click View > Show Hidden Devices.
Expand the Network Adapters tree (click the plus sign next to the Network adapters entry).
Right-click the dimmed network adapter, then click Uninstall.
Once all of the grayed out NICs are uninstalled, assign the IP address to the virtual NIC.
Re: Script to look and add free vms in pool
For that just change this line:
$entitledusers= (Get-ADGroupMember$Poolentitlments.distinguishedName).count
To this:
$entitledusers= ($PoolEntitlments|foreach {Get-ADGroupMember$_.distinguishedName |where {$_.objectclass -eq'user'}}).count
if I've been helpful please mark my answer as Correct
Re: After upgrade to 7.3.1 from 7.3 getting 401 unauthorized access due to bad credentials on Infrastructure tab.
I don't think that is the issue here. A quick eyeball of the server directory shows me lots of files updated on 3/13 and the versions are 7.3.1.????? . Thanks though.
Re: How do i get access to the public wavefront slack community?
If you go to www.wavefront.com/join-public-slack it should let you self register. Please let me know if that doesn't work!

Do you have any popup blocker or adblocker by any chance? One quick test I recommend is opening your browser in incognito or private without any special plugin to see if you get the same results.
PCI/GPU passthrough
Hello,
I'm trying to passthrough a GeForce 7300 LE (I know it's old) to a Debian 9 VM on a standalone ESXi 6.5 host. I have enabled PCI passthrough and attached the device to the VM. I am using the nouveau driver within the VM, which according to it's man page, the 7300 LE is a supported chipset. Attached is what I see when the VM boots to the login screen (using GDM, X11 System Default). When I log in, the screen goes black. I've seen other forum discussions talk about setting configuration parameters with pciHole.start, pciHole.end, and pciHole.size, but I do not understand what these will do, let alone the values they should have.
Is anybody able to point me in the right direction for getting this PCI/GPU passthrough to work?
Thanks,
Craig
[UPDATE]
I ended booting the guest OS up to trigger the attached screen back. Without logging into the guest OS, I shut it down and the screen remained. This tells me it's something on the ESXi side, not the guest OS side.
Re: Problem to upgrade vmware horizon composer to 7.4
The uninstall files have been purged from your server for Composer 6.2.2. You will need to locate the Composer 6.2.2 installer and extract the files. Then you can browse to the directory of the files you extracted and select them during the upgrade.
Re: External VDI (No VPN) - Opens Print Page
Are you using Unified Access Gateways (UAG) or at a minimum Security Servers? You should never directly expose your connection servers externally.
Re: Periodically disconnecting in VMWare Horrizon 4.7.0
That's the Horizon Client log. Please grab the Horizon Agent log from the virtual desktop that you are connecting to for the time period when the issue occurred.
Re: Fusion 10.1.2 when?
Ever since they off shored development, the software quality and customer service have taken a dive.
Re: Horizon 7.3.2 occasional black screens at log on
I do see this scenario as a potential black screen, but don't think we are running in to this, however I certainly will double check our DHCP scope and DNS scavenging.
As we dig more in to our black screen problem we are leaning towards networking or storage. If we log in to the VM with a black screen after the black screen has occurred we see a user profile half-merged (not entire content is copied to the vm from the server share)
So the other suggestion to verify the port settings on the switch is a good place to restart our investigation and perhaps dig in to the storage logs to see if there are any resets on the storage controller.
Thank you!
